Videos on the various Mental Aspects of Tennis

As you may well know, the mental aspect of the game is extremely critical.  This is why many of my guest on my podcast show our world renowned sports psychologist, coaches who focus on the mental side of the game and even a well known neuropsychiatrist as we apply his research and practice to habituation in tennis practice and competition.   You can go to my podcast page directly or click here and listen to some of those shows. Despite how important this is, you will not find too many discussions on the practical side of the game with respect to mental aspects.

Below I will be providing a growing resource on such topics such as between point management, momentum management, potential turning points, how to deal with choking, handling big moments, tension and relaxation on the court, pressure drills and point play scenarios to simulate pressure in matches, and more.  New videos on all my pages will be forthcoming so please come back.

P.R.P.R Between Point Management Mental Routine  In this  is a video I discuss and demonstrate typical scenarios between points and how to manage that time better, the the elite players.  Since my early days of coaching, when I was coaching a top 16 NCAA team at UC Irvine, I have used this system designed by my good friend and renowned expert on mental aspects in tennis, Dr. Jim Loehr.  I go over the principle of P.R.P.R. (Positive physical response, Relaxation, Preparation, Ritual). I do this for all my players and even have entire segments of team practices dedicated to training players the system.
