True Perspective of a Great Champion
Rafa on Passion to Persevere through Injuries, Keep fighting, Keep Practicing…
When John asked Rafa how does he stay so fit despite having to pull out from events due to injuries, and even take a long break only to come back stronger, Rafa spoke like a true ambassador of the sport and displaying grit in general:
“What we are doing is not for ever…and I am so lucky to be doing this…” He went on to say in short that he did not know if he was going to be doing it for 1, 3, or 5 more years so he “played with all the love that I have and the passion I have.”
Some people might be inclined to say such positive platitudes after they win. Winning covers a multitude of aches and pains. It is a natural pain killer. Nadal had won in this match. But so consistent with being a class act, listen to what Nadal said after losing in the final where he got dismantled! Just pure class. He tells of his fight to improve and he will be back better. I hope all our younger players can learn from this. Fight. Grit. Regroup and improve. Never give up. Etc. Etc.
Well said. Drop the mic
